Neonatal Jaundice Phototherapy Lamp – LED KS-LA-6P. Neonatal jaundice is considered as yellowing of the skin due to increased levels of bilirubin, a compound in the blood. Severe jaundice, if left untreated, can lead to brain damage, hearing loss, and even death. According to statistics, clinically 80% of premature and 60% of full-term infants are at risk of hyperbilirubinemia. It is used to treat neonatal jaundice by reducing the levels of bilirubin in your baby’s blood through a process called photooxidation. Photooxidation adds oxygen to bilirubin, making it easily soluble in water. This makes it easier for your baby’s liver to break down and remove bilirubin from his blood.
