Description
Vicryl (polyglactin 910) from Ethicon. They are synthetic, braided and absorbable sutures.
Vicryl Rapide sutures have undergone a special process during manufacturing which allows the material to be absorbed faster compared to ordinary Vicryl. Rapid absorption provides clinical benefits when suturing skin and mucous membranes. The material loses its strength after 10-14 days and is absorbed after 35-42 days. Vicryl sutures are probably the most popular sutures worldwide. They are absorbable with a predicted absorption time, which has emerged from special research and studies.
A coating ensures that the vicryl-suture glides smoothly through the tissue without cutting when exiting.
They are synthetically which reduces the likelihood of reactions from the tissue. Remaing strength of the Vicryl-suture:2 weeks – 75%3 weeks – 50%4 weeks – 25%They are fully absorbable in 56 – 70 days.
