Lugol solution 5% iodine in a glass bottle and in an amount of 100ml or 200ml.It
is used for use in vaginal examinations in which the iodine solution is applied to the cervix and/or vaginal areas with a swab in order to diagnose cervical cancer.
Often referred to as the “Schiller Test,” Lugol’s solution will stain diseased tissue and clearly show abnormal cells and show possible biopsy or treatment sites.
Description
It stains the normal tissue with a high glycogen content brown, while the feared tissue remains pale, due to glycogen deficiency.
The doctor moistens the examined area with the S-Class
solution. A visual assessment of the color change follows.
After use, the area is rinsed with water or saline.
Storage
Keep tightly closed and protected from light, at room temperature of 15°-30° C.
